From the 14th to 17th May 2024, the European Academy on Youth Work, third edition, took place in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. The theme was ‘Future developments and their impact on youth work’. There were 200 participants representing a broad spectrum of the youth work community of practice, coming from a large portion of Europe and several neighbouring countries.

The conference “Value and Recognition of Youth Work” took place from 4 to 7 December 2023, in Zagreb, Croatia. The aim was to engage stakeholders from the community of practice in a professional debate on recognition. As a direct result of the conference, five pocket books were created, each diving deeper into a specific aspect of recognition, making these pocket books essential reading for anyone interested in the recognition of youth work!

The network “Generation Europe – the Academy” puts the Bonn Process into action with more than 40 organisations across Europe. We have talked with Lucia Andreatta about their latest symposium and the potential of dialogue between youth, youth work and politics.

The conference “Value and Recognition of Youth Work” took place from 4-7 December 2023 in Zagreb, Croatia. The conference was part of the strategic partnership of 16 National Agencies (NA) for the implementation of the EU youth programmes Erasmus+ Youth and European Solidarity Corps, and SALTO Youth Resource Centres (SALTO RC) who are keen to implement and strengthen the European Youth Work Agenda (EYWA) through the Bonn Process.

Jasmina Banjalučkić works at the “Institute for Youth Development KULT”. She is a youth worker and Head of the Department for Youth Policy Development. She talked with us in an interview about the impact of the European Youth Work Agenda and the recognition of youth work in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Andreas Björk works as a Development Manager with special competence regarding youth work and youth leisure in Sweden. He works for the Swedish Agency of Youth and Civil Society. We met him earlier in the year and he agreed to share with us some of his insights into what impact the Bonn Process is having in Sweden.

The second Youth Work Works Congress led by De Ambrassade, took place in Brussels in June of 2023. Over 500 youth workers, policy makers and people from neighbouring sectors gathered and immersed themselves in exploring the mission of youth work, the DNA of the youth worker, and the positive effect of youth work.

Jelena Stojanovic is a youth worker from Serbia and is the Executive Director at NAPOR, the Serbian National Association of Youth Workers. She is also the contact person for the Bonn Process in Serbia. Jelena participated in the Bonn Process Exchange Forum in May (2023). It was here that we spoke with Jelena about her work and the impact of the Bonn Process on youth work in Serbia.

Olga Kyriakidou is a youth worker from Greece. She is a representative of the Hellenic Youth Worker Association and the national contact point for the Bonn Process. Back in May she talked with us about the situation of youth work in Greece and the positive impact the Bonn Process is having on the recognition of youth work.
